This episode took Frieren's adventure into the northern region of their world. The freezing weather was evident but luckily managed to find refuge thanks to Kraft.

Speaking of Kraft, it's interesting to see him make his anime appearance and his devotion to faith and becoming a monk. Pretty interesting episode considering the adventure themes and more depth into lore in the series imo.

Hilarious to see Frieren still fearing the possibility of her getting some sort of capital punishment just because she thought Granat might have misunderstood about the killer of that one guarding knight lol. I mean you just defeated someone like Aura, no need to sweat about small things xD

Same for Stark lol, moreover in his case he literally passed out of fear. But things being the way they were, this trio is already a celebrity in the town, and why not… it was because of them that this town saw the end of years of struggle with demonkind. Though the thing which Frieren demanded wasn’t worth much, except fulfilling her hobby in a way, but they’ve become the saviours who people will always look back and admire.

First mention of magic association too, but hey we’ll get to know about it sooner, so let’s leave it that way. Now the journey is back on track after a while, though it’s fair to say nothing much has changed in regards to their planning lol. Goes without saying, now that they are travelling further north, the winter has become more than a threat, but still Frieren, you must not just enter anyone's home like it’s the most normal thing to do;)

Kraft saw his introduction this episode, a fellow elf like Frieren. A rarity in their world and in this series too, but of course neither did Frieren know about him nor did he know about Frieren from anywhere. Good few months with his company, but he departed as soon as he got introduced.

Love Hieter tho, and like how perceptive he was. But I guess even Himmel and Eisen noticed the mana limiting thing at some point.

The battle is finished, and it appears that, at least for now, we've raised that air of seriousness.

Frieren, Fern, and Stark, who defeated Aura and her followers, experience a period of tranquility. They mourn their subordinates who were controlled by Aura even after death, and Graf Granat expresses his utmost gratitude to Frieren. As Frieren and the others embark on their journey, they find that the winter roads of the northern countries are harsher than they had imagined. It is there that they encounter a solitary martial monk. His name was Kraft.

The battle arc was porbably the best we've seen of this series so far, but I'm also relieved that the story is returning to the usual Frieren antics. I can already picture her calmly vexing bureaucrats in no time. Meeting another elf adds an intriguing layer, especially since it seems like he might have embarked on heroics even before Frieren's time. It's fascinating that, despite Frieren being at least a millennium old, and likely even older, Kraft senses a youthfulness about her, at least for an elf. Of course, he could be mistaken, but if he's right, that's an incredibly long lifespan, even by traditional elf standards.

The six months flew by; I suppose that's the elf perspective for us.

They stayed at that hut for 6 months? Damn that's long. I love the detail where Frieren gradually joins in on the prayer out of respect.

I didn't expect the sudden insert song by milet and it was good!

Well there are still other Elves around tho that was already clear from some of the reactions of others.
The city praised the group for dealing with the demons which was nice and a good thing the they could have taken a better time to leave.
Don't travel in a snow storm instead find a safe place and wait it out.

Looks like the adventure will continue from here on out with our usual way of storytelling with Frieren, Stark, and Fern as they explore the northern side of the region. We also got to meet a new elf guy, Kraft who is voiced by Mr. Takehito which is great. LOL.

The episode was pretty nice as the story returned to normal with stuff we got to dive into some pretty interesting things in the story going forward. More adventures are always welcome and are nice to see in this story. Frieren is cute. :P

The insert song just blows my mind away.

I get to see Stark shirtless a little bit when he's hospitalized. At first I'm afraid that winter will decrease the chance of seeing him shirtless, but the winter is already over by the end of the episode.

What I love the most about Stark is that instead of expressing disgust after sharing a bed with a monk elf, he suddenly appreciate the elf's body.

That monk seems like he has done a lot in his era, but this anime is not about his story. But I'm pretty sure it was a very epic journey.

The previous battle is over and now we get to the actual meat of the story. Which should last for quite a few episodes.

I don't want to be cynical, but I can't help but fear some people will suddenly start lowering their score for this anime and claim that "nothing's happening" while ignoring the actual themes of the story. Vinland Saga season 2 style.

Interesting, 1000+ years old is considered young.

How old is Kraft then?

The aftermath of the battle with Lugner, Aura and the demons, Graf Granat appreciated that the late heroes were preserved, which Frieren definitely was taught well by Himmel. Even somethig as simple as a pendant, everything was as it is. And as promised, being rewarded with Flamme's grimoire is nothing but a fake, though Stark is thankful that his life is intact. The gratitude to the 3 heroes, with milet's insert song, it feels magical. Graf knows they're travelling to Ende, but the Northern Plateau is experiencing travel restrictions, which are rewarded from the Continental Magic Association, but that it changes rules too much that Frieren doesn't care anymore. Their next location: Auberst beyond the Schwer Mountains, and that lies with treacherous weather that's east to get lost.

The Decke Region where the trio find themselves lost with Stark out of commission, they need a shelter fast, and found one that belonged to a half-naked elf guy. Kraft the Monk making his anime debut seeing yet another elf like him in 300 years, it's definitely surprising. Stark got revived being heated by Kraft's body heat, and stayed behind while he, Frieren and Fern find supplies for livestock, That said, both elves not knowing each other, they pass through the treacherous 6-month long winter in the Northern lands, and Kraft being a believer of the Goddess (which Fern is too thanks to Frieren), he wants the Goddess to praise him when he goes to the afterlife. How Frieren learnt about the Goddess of Creation, it was through Heiter who wanted to praise her, even for her strong mana suppression, though for Kraft, this will not be the last time that he'll meet her.

A slow episode, but a really thoughtful one about religion and life.

Stark thought he got a jumbo berry special and ended up with some nice warm Kraft mac & cheese. Dunno if that counts as a win.

They're really making it a mission to have every single flashback with the original party be a feels trip, aren't they? If only that corrupt priest could see Fern now.

The insert song by Milet hit hard. RIP to the people who died fighting Aura. Another elf showed up and he's voiced by Takehito Koyasu no less, one of the rare cases of him voicing someone not an antagonist and it suited the character very well. New arc next with Fern/Frieren needing the first class mage liscense.

I like how this episode had a connection with Heiter. First, with Frieren praying at the battlefield with Fern. Then, meeting Kraft and seeing him pray during their meals with only Fern at first. But, gradually over time, we see Stark and then Frieren begin praying during their meals as well. It reminds of when Heiter started praying at the grave of Eisen's family, and the rest of the hero party joined in. It looks like Frieren has adopted that habit of praying from Heiter.

Also, I really loved that moment at the end where Frieren mentions Heiter to Kraft. Instead of saying Heiter has passed, she pauses, looks at the angel pendant, and finally says he's in heaven. Frieren saying this despite her skepticism of the afterlife, heaven and the Goddess of Creation. It's ironic that she's on a journey to heaven too. I think it shows how much she valued her friendship with Heiter and the effect he had on her change.

A very solid and chill follow up episode after the recent string of intense episodes with the demons. Loved the scenes with the group and Kraft the Monk too, especially towards the end with him and Frieren since it is interesting seeing them converse considering the state of the elves and how rare it is to find them meeting each other, and even reflecting on their very long lives. The scene with Stark waking up to find a random old man/elf half-naked and lying next to him did get some chuckles out of me too. Solid insert song too, not the best I've heard among the lot but still works well with the show and the tone of the episode itself. The rest of the music continues to be super consistent and great to listen to.

I dont think in a city you need an axe that big to cut a tree. Must be compensating for something.

There is a glass cannon, and there is Stark that cant handle the cold.

Sometimes just need a good person of faith to make even Frieren pray before the meal.

Holy shit. Frieren met another elf. I didn't think it'd happen so soon. And he's voiced by Takehito Koyasu no less.

I guess we're back to the traveling SOL aspect of the show again which I don't mind. It was obvious that action wasn't the focus of this show from the beginning and honestly, that might be for the better though I will miss the Aura vs Frieren epic showdown.

I like the cute moments between Stark and Fern.

This is exactly what I need right now, a relaxing and chill episode of Frieren.

Following the aftermath of the battle, a sense of tranquility and stability returns to the city. After all of that action, it’s really relieving to see Stark’s childish nature come back for some good comedic relief. Must’ve been scared of that man with a giant axe for a while haha. I already saw that Milet did a second song dubbed “Bliss” in the ending tab on the anime page, but by the Goddess of Creation, the music of Frieren continues to get better with every episode. That is such a good insert song.

The fantastic worldbuilding continues to grow note by note. Now it’s expanding on more of the Northern Lands, the CMA, and religion. Kraft is here and it’s surprising to hear Koyasu in a non-antagonistic role haha. A relatively calm sequence as the party and Kraft huddle in for the long winter. This time around, the flashback focuses on Heiter which is a nice change of focus. Even though Heiter is often joked as a corrupt priest, he’s had his own impact on Fern and Frieren. He’d be proud of Fern right now while the relationship between him and Frieren is of value to Frieren.

As the winter ends, the party and Kraft leave on their own journey just as fast as they met. The next location for the group.. Äußerst.

Great episode as always, looking forward to see the next arc!
Have a fabulous Frieren Friday :]

A tribute to the fallen heroes, and a journey into the chilly Northern Lands...

A much more relaxing episode this week with the aftermath of the battle, and it was great to hear Milet's insert song "Bliss", to capture the emotions of saluting the fallen heroes. The second half of the episode saw Frieren and friends venture into the Northern Lands, and the winters there look gruelling for sure. We also got to meet Kraft the Monk, and through him, learned about some of the lore and religion in the world. Although this was more of a slow episode, this is what this anime's identity is, the more mundane moments, and seeing time pass by quickly. I wonder where we go from here, as we're getting into the meat of the story.

A breath of fresh air episode. Although there was no combat/action at all this episode, I still felt engaged as we got some plot development with us finally meeting another elf other than Frieren. Seems like next episode we would get some more interesting stuff going on. Overall still liked the episode even though it wasn't as hype as last week's episode cuz it felt like we needed a breather episode in some time.

Another beautiful and poignant episode. After the action of the last few weeks, it’s nice to get back to slower character driven episodes like this. Miler’s new insert song for the episode gave me goosebumps. Her voice is just perfect for this story.

Meeting another elf was really cool. I wonder if there’s any more out there that we’ll encounter.

The journey through the northern lands was brutal, but I couldn’t help wondering why no one invented a spell to keep you warm or shield you from the elements. I guess if that existed then we wouldn’t have got the meeting with the other elf and Frieren wouldn’t have grown a little more pious lol.

Speaking of which, I love how over the course of the 6 months, we see Frieren start to accept the Goddess, or at least become more open to the idea. Initially as the dinner scenes are shown she’s just eating while everyone else is praying and eventually she starts praying as well.

Another nice flashback scene after the elf priest talks about praising Frieren, reminding her of her previous journey with the hero’s party. The look on Frieren’s face when Heiter praised her ability to conceal her aura was so cute. I love how moments like that have stuck with her all these years later.
