@@roflryan1 Pat is a solid guy. Willie is a beta.
I love his teaching method when he's fishing for answers. He wants those wrong answers and doesn't fault them. Students feel free to ask their questions.
If your 'knowledge' is wrong, but you think it is correct, that's the first level of teaching.
Remember Mac was a Green Beret-and our training is to be great unconventional warrior teachers.Teaching is the first and foremost skill(after becoming insanely proficient in every art and artifice of war)
It's like in classic survival philosophy the "what if" question. And you need to know your enemy in this case yourself, and in a survival situation...yourself. If you can't think in a creative self-sufficient way you perish.
It's insane, but he reminded me of my 11th and 12th grade math teacher. If someone started rattling off answers, he'd ask them to hold off and let others guess. Haven't thought of that guy in years.
"Don't answer the next one because you probably know the sequence"

I like him - not pretending to be a badass, not hollering, not intimidating or threatening. Just, here’s the facts - the class is really focused on his message.
Lots of butthead, loud mouth, nasty instructors out there, no reason for it.
Thank you for posting!
I have yet to come across a legit badass that while direct with a no bullshit approach, humble as can be! I think the only place you'll find legit operators with egos are the Navy SEAL's. They are always ready to write a book and boast!

Glad to see the Army getting real training. When I was in from 1997 - 2000 as an Infantryman, the weapons training was weak at best.
Claymore
Of course, all the good training- is available to civilians now, too. PatMac is Civilian contractor here, after all.
Same with me my friend, poor training and old gear was the name of the game for much of my time. If you wanted legit training you had to do it on your time and your dime. Luckily we are apparently improving in that department over the last few years.

3 years? A 3 year contract just before you missed the big show and you still have US Army as a RUclips icon?

Guy's a good teacher. Knows his shit, doesn't chew his students out for giving wrong answers, even discourages one student from carrying the class.
That was a productive 19 minutes and 29 seconds. Good knowledge shared.
We got jacked in the core the hardest if we didn't have our knowledge
Pat Mac, true professional. I love that he's passing his knowledge onto younger troops. Keep it up Pat.
SF dudes are natural born teachers/mentors , they actually give a dam about the fighting men out front. listen, learn , apply, you'll become a better human being all around. ... Respect.

“See that man with the Green Beret?! Teachings how he earns his payyy!!!” Cadence says it all.
The Green Berets were originally intended to embed with native units and teach them how to soldier. Most every other US small unit SOF team is going to be based, at least in part, off of them and lessons learned from Nam forward.

The bolt override clearing at ~13:20 is the most straight forward explanation that I have ever seen.
It make perfect sense that the cartridge will move forward with the charging handle and un-wedge from the bolt if you just hold the bolt from moving forward when driving the charging handle forward. Thank you!
dude is so naturally legendary.
I mean, not to defend those “4 gun geeks”, but Pat is a legit wizard if there ever was one... lmfao

that bolt override clearing move was pretty dope. fastest I've ever seen it done.
Wait what's 4 gun? I've only ever seen 3-gun and tactical 2-gun.
@@orion3253 no, the 4 gun geek guys he referred to in the video, not 4gun like a shooting match.
12:15 bolt override fix. My absolute favorite part of this video. No matter how badass you think you are, there is always someone that will take you to school. Awesome video!
This is the best AR malfunction video I've ever seen.
My entire time in the Army, any time there was training like this soldiers were scared to speak up loudly. Mostly for fear of being wrong. These are LIFE SAVING techniques. Don’t be afraid to be wrong because the worst that can happen is you’ll learn the right way.
My first AR-15 was a 1965 Colt SP 101. My first attempt to fire it resulted in a double feed. I learned a lot of useful information here.
back when I was E-1 at basic, malfunctions wasn't discussed and all we learned was SPORTS to fix a stopped gun. I really like the celebrity trainer!
Same here...Ft Sill circa 1992. Nothing was high speed then, we still had M16A1's
SPORTS/tap-rack-reassess was taught in 2018, probably still is. There's a lot wrong with Basic these days, but _some_ things have improved over the years as well.
Man we had all this in basic when I was in the UK 🇬🇧forces all of this what he saying in these multiple videos with pat
Haha! Sports was the same for the AF
This is beautiful...wish I saw more of this when I was in. Great to see the Special Forces community share their knowledge with everyone else.
Hey thanks on the "bolt override" tip, a nightmare I could not solve without a "TIME OUT" and a team meeting !
Way to go SGM Pat MAC , still serving those who serve!
Can we get 3.5 million clones of this gentleman to replace the full- and part-time public school teachers?
CCT = Critical Combat Theory
this man can teach better than actual teachers.
He was Delta in the 80s or 90s.
That's actually the main job of Special Forces teams. You obviously can't win a war with just an A-Team, so you train the indigenous forces up to a serviceable level. Compared to the local militias and now civies he's used to training, he probably considers training actual professional soldiers a vacation.
He actually did run training programs in the army.
I'm so glad he's teaching them this stuff. The regular Army doesn't and it's a huge diservice to the warfighter.
What do you mean by regular army? Sorry, I haven't ever served and I'm just curious. I've seen this type of comment made before, but never thought to ask.
Tre Greavu regular Army in this sense is referring to conventional forces. As opposed to Special Forces, Rangers, Delta, etc.
Usually it’s actually called “Big Army” in this sense, since regular army to everyone else means active duty units (as opposed to guard and reserve).
@@StruggleBusOperator Nice okay, well now I know, thanks for that response.
A couple of years ago I had the honor of having Pat Mac diagnose my mystery problem...”You got a primer in the Cam Well.” My thought...”How the hell did he know that? F’ing GENIUS!”
mosin9105 please expound on this
No Comment My BCG was stuck, I couldn’t fix the problem by mortaring my rifle. It wouldn’t move forward or backward. Pat walks up, looks at it, thinks for a second, and says, “You have a loose primer in the cam well.” Then he fixed it, and gave me the primer that had fallen out of the case. My rifle ran fine after that, no damage.
mosin9105 so your the guy he mentions in the video?
No Comment Ithink so.
mosin9105 thanks for indulging my curiosity. Now go get some...
since when does regular army get actual reputable firearms training?
its 10th moutain so they get good funding
Good officers taking admirable initiative who will quickly be weeded out in order to maintain institutional mediocrity.
Most in-house bad firearms training start because units aren't taking advantage of available training opportunities. You can only teach so much material from the book; you need to send people to the appropriate schools. Benning for the Active side and Robinson for the Guard side have marksmanship schools that every unit should be sending their people to in order to learn proper BRM and range operation procedures.

This afternoon, my brother and I went out to the farm to shoot up some Norinco .223 ammo I bought back in the early 90's. We are both retired military guys, who have been shooting all our lives. He told me about this video on the drive to the farm, the quality of the information provided, and specifically, the primer story, that was mentioned toward the end of this video. After almost 30 years in the military each, we'd never run into primers from expended ammo, rattling around the inside of the rifle, causing all sorts of problems. When we started shooting, we immediately started to have the issues covered in this video. Every other round was the average for a stoppage...but we weren't expecting an easy day trying to shoot this ~30 year old ammo, so we cleared the jams and kept going...just like this video says. Could be the ammo, could be the rifle(s)...in the beginning, we suspected, but didn't know. After shooting 20 rounds...which took way too long, we'd move to another rifle, to see if the rifle could be the issue/to prove it was the ammo. By the second or third mag, I noticed a spent primer, was stuck on the next, chambered round, causing the bolt to not seat properly. We laughed at the odds of him having seen this video, and then having it happen to us. It took four hours, for us to shoot up ~200 rounds of this old stuff. I watched this video soon after I got back home, but because my brother had seen it before, we spent four hours applying all the info provided in this video...again and again. Thanks for the great video instruction, and thanks to Norinco for enabling an awesome day of "Weapons Malfunction Training".
I love how americans have such an extensive training session on this.
Finnish guys running RK rifles (like an AK but better) its like:
Step 1: DROP the mag, fresh mag in, rack it, try firing. If the rifle still doensnt work...
Step 2: slam the stock into a rock or a tree while pointing in a safe direction, try to fire.
At this point the rifle must be completely fucked if it still doesnt fire when its in battery.
Step 3: find new rifle.
I fucking love the Finnish
Sounds good enough to me :)

7:56 I barely ever actually get to shoot my AR, so I like to take out the bolt and use it to fling snap caps. I'll push the rim under the extractor and then push the other side down on the ejector and let it go. Sometimes I try to fling them into a basket or something. I never realized that I was doing something constructive that whole time!

nah, there's females there, hot chow and a nice air conditioned ride back to the barracks
I've trained soldiers from the 10th Mountain. They are a great group of men and women.

8:13 if you have a bolt with bad ejector spring tension, mark it and save it!! It is an awesome training tool to put into your gun. Helps train double feeds and stovepipes. I got a new gun that had a bad bolt and I got really good at clearing those malfunctions, then got a new bolt. Been kicking myself ever since.
i learned from watching this i know absolutely nothing.
chronic bullets I’ve stripped my AR hundreds of times and thought I knew everything and when he said “gas rings” and “cam well” I realized I’m a noob. Another reason for failure to feed is cheap magazines like Thermold. If you look at a GI or Magpul magazine from the back and hold up the Thermold next to it, you will see that the magazine follower on the Thermold doesn't ride up as high. It tends to feed the round into the top of the magwell no matter how well you seat the mag.
I loved my magpuls and sung their praises until I had 3 of a set spit their feed lips into my m4 in afghanistan. Steel usgi or lancer mags with metal lips only, from then on. Magpul springs and followers in everything though
