I've never watched a dub (unless you count the very first episode of english-dubbed Pokémon for some reason I don't remember). When I first got into anime at the end of 2014, I basically typed in 'Attack on Titan watch online' into google and ended up on the most questionable streaming site on the internet, and it only had subbed, so I didn't bother looking for a dubbed version because I don't really have any problem with reading subtitles. (I should point out that at this point I was quite unaware of just how easy it is to find anime on the internet, so I thought finding a dubbed version would be significantly more effort than it actually would have been). Ever since I started watching anime, it's just become increasingly more apparent how much I hate the American voice acting industry in general, not just in anime, like in old games I used to play (e.g. Spyro etc.), the VAs just make me cringe now. Because of that I've always just steered clear of dubs completely ever since. I've heard clips and trailers every now and then, but all they do is reinforce my opinion that I made the right decision to avoid them entirely.

I watch subs for new things and stuff that was never dubbed and if the dub is just bad (like 80's and some 90's dubs) if a dub is available I will usually take it.

I technically never "switched" as I had been watching both dubs and subs since I started taking anime seriously. I may be one of the staunchest defenders of dubs on MAL (for the good ones) but it's true, some dubs are just too dreadful that I have to watch the shows subbed.

I think I watched 2 dubbed animes, then found one that didn't have a dub. I was sold on subs after that.

I'd say to blame Aniplex for approving that translation then, assuming they weren't the ones who suggested it in the first place. Either way, I don't see how a dub that only recently had its first trailer come out had anything to do with the title confusion on ERASED. The real divide on titles is not between sub and dub watchers; it's mainly between people who watch via official means and people who watch via "other" means.

id is the pros really did there job [ like fox japan did on the simpsons dub] as translate accuraly there would be no divide now would there

that incuigd bothe censorship or adding cussing to the script any edits ot the scipt are mistraslations in my view as who is both by lingual and a linguist [ hobbiest as i may be ]

my view on adding swaring to a eng dub is this is show immaturity

there is them sort of words in Japanese [ as you should know if you talk t] but there ever hardly in anime or manga but a dub add a word tht the japanese script did not have shows they do no really know Japanese so ould not trust them as translators [ m shocked you do if you talk the bith languages ]

2010 with Death Note. I always like to hear everything in their native language whether it be movies, tv shows or animes. Death Note was the gateway anime for me.

After it was Naruto but still, I would pauseat times just to read suttin, Bakemonogatari was the perfect crash course for that and it really paid of, now I read without even realising it

Thats what dbz kai is for my friend, much better voice acting and the script is accurate to the source. When it comes to what people consider great dubs, those 3 you listed got heavy tv exposure in the early 2000s before it was easy to watch anime online and thus are favored by much of the community.

Not interested in Kai because of the censorship and yes that applies to the Japanese version as well.

what censorship?

Many anime fans likely got into anime through dubs but made transitioned into watching subs later on. I'm starting to become more of a sub person as I watch more and more. I first started watching subs when I ran out of dubbed One Piece around ep. 370. So I was wondering how and when did you start watching subs?

I watch both. I prefer dubs, but I will watch subs if dubs are not available The first sub I watches was either Grave of the Fireflies or the 2nd Ghost in the shell Movie.

Most of the anime I've watched have been watched through sub. But a lot of anime I watched in my childhood was dubbed.

when I was a kid I had no other choice but to watch dubs that aired on TV, but as I grow up and was able to understand and read english well enough (bcz english isn't my native language) I switched to subs so around my second year in middle school
