All the actors, actresses, director, producers and crew members deserve an Oscar each for their outstanding and unmatchable performances. I watched this movie when I was 18 for over 7 straight hours through the night, when everyone (my mom and siblings) had gone to bed. It was a recorded VHS copy I borrowed from the video club in the small town Zaria, Nigeria, where I had grown up. Afterwards, everyone in my family knew I was one of the greatest fans of The Thorn Birds, as I never tired of telling them about Father Ralph and Maggi’s decades long love story. O how brokenhearted for Maggi I was (and still is) when Father Ralph died, but comforted that he died in her arms. 32 years later, am 50 years old, and I can still recite all the words to a lot of the scenes, especially those between Maggi and Father Ralph. I dare say that this is about my all time favourite movie 👑☀️🙌🙌🙌

I can't blame Meggie for being madly in love with Ralph. Every normal woman would dream of his hands all over her. He's so beautiful and gentle that it hurts. Rachel Ward is awesome in reflecting her suffering and passion throughout the movie.
I think you're in love with the actor not the character.
Anyway he prefers the Males.

It's great Meggie told off both Father Ralph and Luke. They both deserved it. In some ways they WERE the same. A person can only take so much. Great movie! Just bought the DVD. I'm Catholic, but I realize that no matter what church you come from, selfish Ambition just to gain power within a church is hypocritical in the highest. Reminds me of the Pharisees. God pulled Ralph down a few pegs because he needed it. Later he realized his mistake, and he deeply regretted it.
