This recipe makes the most heavenly cream ever! I haven't had a real Devonshire cream, but my friends that have said that this is pretty close. I make the recipe as is but I add 1/4 cup of sour cream, this seems to help with the "cream cheesey" taste. I also added 1 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of cloves, and 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg. This goes great on plain scones. I am so excited to make this again on Tuesday!
I love this recipe! You don't need a food processor, just take the chilled butter and work it into the flour with your hands. Instead of adding white sugar I added brown sugar, and Instead of raisins I added dried cherries and cinnamon, I brought them to a tea party and they were gone within minutes. This scone recipe goes great with the Devanshire cream recipe. I'm going to make more scones tomorrow!
